The Stages in Pursuing a Disability Claim

The amount of time you need in pursuing a Social Security Disability claim greatly depends on the number of times you would file an appeal due to the Social Security Administration’s denial of your application. The filing procedure has five stages with its respective requirements and case evaluators. The four basic steps are supervised by the SSA while the last phase involves the civil courts. Initial Stage Primarily, the filing process will start upon your submission of a formal Disability claim to the Social Security Office. A disability examiner will then assess your petition to determine if your disability is eligible under the rules of the State Disability Determination Agency. He or she will examine the documents you have filed pertaining to your medical condition and ask a qualified doctor for his expert opinion.

Unfortunately, more than 60% of disability claims are rejected on this stage. This is mainly due to the inadequate knowledge of the claimants about the SSA’s conditions and definition of accepted disabilities. A number of them also refuse hiring experienced Social Security representatives on their belief that it would only cost them a lot of money. Motion for Reconsideration After the rejection of your first attempt, you have the right to file an appeal for reconsideration. This motion is just like a request for the SSA to have a review on the decision of the disability examiner who handled your case on the initial stage. The SSA will act upon your pleading and appoint another disability examiner to look into your claim and give his decision. According to the records, around 80% of the disability claims are rejected on this stage, 20% higher than the initial stage. This can mean that the disability examiner on this stage might follow stricter standards or yet the previous one has already performed a thorough judgment on the cases that were filed. Case Hearing with an Administrative Law Judge If in case your petition was again rejected on the reconsideration stage, you do have an option to bring your case to an Administrative Law Judge and wait for the scheduling of a hearing. While in the previous stages, you are not given a chance to get in touch with the examiners; this step is comparable to a normal civil case litigation wherein you are expected to present and defend your case in front of a judge. However, in these particular hearings, there is no defendant to convict. More than 50% succeed in this stage. The Appeals Council The Appeals Council accepts disability claims that fail to succeed in the first three steps. Their office is situated in Falls Church, Virginia. The council is not obliged to hear any arguments from the petitioner, but rather they are tasked to review the decisions made by the Administrative Law Judge and give their verdicts based on the judge’s view of the case. Civil Litigation Once you have undergone all the procedures made available by the SSA but still you did not succeed, your last resort would be bringing your case to civil courts. Steps You Can Take In Your Path To Personal Growth

Personal growth is a lifelong activity, although when we are young it can be easy to think that the process should be complete when we are done growing physically. It is an ongoing process just like getting in better physical shape, requiring practice, pauses to consider progress towards personal goals, and persistent effort. While goals may vary for different people, everyone starts the path to personal development in the same place: deciding that it is important, and defining why it is important on an individual level.

Fiction, whether delivered in novel, television, or motion picture form, is filled with examples of people struggling for personal development. Usually the hero is successful, while the villain of the tale never sees the point in the effort and is baffled by the hero’s attempts. An anti-hero such as Scrooge in the classic tale “A Christmas Carol” can start out with a contemptuous attitude and then experience an about-face in priorities, ending well down the path toward growing as a person.

Making the effort to grow personally is a decision that has to come to everyone at his own time. We can try to raise children with the motives and priorities that will start them on the path, but at some point without inner motivation the effort begins to be pointless. Just as someone can be directed to go on a strict diet and exercise regimen, without the inner drive to succeed, that someone will never reach the goals set.

Progress in personal growth can do much more toward a happy, healthy life than prescription pills can offer, because becoming a better person is a change at a foundational level, not the temporary fix of chemicals. Such growth can encompass many different areas of life; each person needs to undergo self-evaluation at some point. What character flaws are preventing a happier life? What goals seem impossible to reach?

If such inner examination comes unnaturally or seems impossible, try to consider yourself as a character in a story. If you were reading this story, would you cheer for that character; if not, what would have to change to convince you to root for that character’s success? Jot down a quick lifetime outline of the character that is you, including both victories and failures. Determine what led to the victories, and list those things under strengths. Then examine the failures; think about how they could have been prevented.

Personal growth can be achieved by first deciding to try, then setting goals, and finally working toward those goals on a daily basis.

Finally, I have been able to get my hands on a ROCCAT mouse. I have heard about them and seen pictures of them and been told many wonderful things about them by friends in the gaming world. However, until now I have never managed to get my hands on one. It was worth the wait!The ROCCAT Kova[+] is an updated version of the very popular ROCCAT Kova, kind of Kova turned up to 11. The speed of the sensor (3200dpi Pro-Optic R2 Gaming Sensor) has been increased. The polling rate is set to 1000Hz by default. The maximum acceleration has been increased (30G).All in all though, I love this mouseWhat first strikes you about the Kova[+] is the design. It is very angular and in a way aggressive to look at. It has an ambidextrous layout, with a raised “spine” running down the middle of the mouse, giving it almost the look of cat with an arched back. Even the mouse wheel has a raised ridge. On each side of the mouse, there are two programmable buttons to go with the standard mouse buttons and mouse wheel. This gives you seven programmable buttons. Under the side buttons there is a patch of rubber, making it much easier to grip the mouse as you lift it. The whole thing is coated in the very popular black softgrip coating, making it very nice to hold.At first, it looks like it could not possibly be comfortable. All the angles, the slightly bulbous back and the ridge down the middle. Whilst looking stunning also looks a little disconcerting. We are used to nice smooth mice! But, as soon as you get your hand on it, all those fears just vanish. It is one of the most comfortable mice I have used. Slightly small in the hand and quite light, it just feels wonderful. Some may not like the weight, but to be honest it was just right for me. The soft rubber sides make the Kova[+] incredibly easy to grip, no slipping if you start to sweat a little. Another great usability and comfort feature is the size of the mouse wheel. It is about twice the width of most. This not only makes it very comfortable to rest your finger on, it also makes it easy to find and use. Also, as it is slightly angled it can be used with the side of your finger.Now, it is impossible to talk about the Kova[+] and not mention the lights. On both main buttons and under the heal of the mouse you have lights. Not as in your face as other mice, but actually they look great. Now, I know lights do not make the mouse better, but if I have to have this thing on my desk all day and all night, it is a nice to have! In addition, there is a more practice aspect to this as it can be set up to show which profile you are currently using.Side LeftIn fact, that leads me nicely into some of the software features. As is the case with most gaming grade mice, there is a plethora of options to be tweaked using the supplied software. As I mentioned, there are seven buttons to be used and abused here. On top of that, there is a clever little extra called EasyShift. EasyShift[+]allows you to assign a mouse button as a type of shift button, effectively doubling the number of programmable options. The only limit to the amount of customisation is your imagination. What’s more, you can save five profiles to the mouse, no need for drivers if you switch between PC’s. You can then assign a button to cycle through them. That should be enough for anyone! As mentioned, you can set the colour to change with each profile. On top of this, there is an option to have a sound assigned to profile changes, letting you know when you switch profiles. This is great as it means you don’t have to look away from the game as you switch. The software is very comprehensive and very simple to use. It may be overkill for most, but I like that it is there should I need it.From a usage aspect, I have little to fault. I have been using this mouse all day everyday for a month on a variety of surfaces. I have never noticed any lag or stuttering – unlike some laser mice I have used. The sensor has never got clogged up or dirty either. Again, something that has plagued other laser mice.However, it is not perfect. There are a couple of niggles – mostly small. There is no dedicated profile or DPI button. Now, I know I can assign a button to this (in my case the right hand side buttons are given this role). But, they are very easy to press by mistake – same as on other ambidextrous mice. Normally I would just disable the buttons on the opposite side to my thumb buttons for that very reason. I had a similar problem on the Xai. The thing is, there I had a dedicated button for profile switching and DPI switching.All in all though, I love this mouse. Once you have it set up it should cover every need you have for a mouse, be it gaming or work or both. At the time of writing it is selling for about £36, which really is a bargain!
